Getting Here

Alexandria is located just south of Washington, D.C. Guests traveling from far away have several options for making the journey. There are three major airports in the D.C. Metro area: Baltimore-Washington Int'l, (BWI), Dulles Int'l (IAD), and Reagan National (DCA). BWI offers the cheapest flights, but is about an hour away. Dulles offers the most flights, but it's about 45 minutes away. National is the closest, but they don't offer as many flights as the other two and you won't find many bargains. We prefer to fly out of National when we can find a flight that fits our plans. It's only fifteen minutes away, the cab ride is $10-15, and it's a small airport, so it's easy to reach your gate.

If the train is more your speed, there's an Amtrak station right in Alexandria. If you do plan to take the train, I'd recommend going to Union Station in D.C. and hopping the Metro from there. The fare is cheaper that way and you don't have to sit around in D.C. for the hour layover before the train heads down to Alexandria. The Amtrak station and the Metro station are right next to each other, so your destination will be the same either way.

Finally, if you're driving, the best way to get here is to take I-95 to the Capital Beltway. You'll want to head toward Alexandria (north and east if you're coming from the south, south and west if you're coming from the north). The exit for Old Town used to be exit 1, but now it's exit 177. You'll want to go north on Route One, which will take you right into Old Town. You can get driving directions to River Farm on their site.
