Where to Stay

We'd recommend staying in Old Town Alexandria. The wedding will be just four miles south of there, and it's a great area. It has a lot of historic charm, lots of shops and restaurants, and there's easy Metro access to DC. It also happens to be where we live, and we plan on going out there after the wedding. We've reserved a block of rooms at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, at a discounted rate of $119/night. There are lots of other places to stay in the D.C. area, but we're hoping that most folks will stay near one another so we can all spend time together not just at the wedding but for the entire weekend. (We're staying in town through Monday morning so we can visit with you more.)

Below, we've made a list of five hotels in Old Town to give you choices if the Hilton doesn't quite suit your needs.

Hotels in Old Town Alexandria

Recently built, the Hilton is a good hotel right next to the King Street Metro station in Old Town. As mentioned above, we've reserved a block of rooms for $119/night, and we're hoping that a good number of people will stay here. The rate applies to up to two adults per room, kids under 18 stay free. All you have to do is call 1/703/837-0440, ask to make a reservation, and tell them you're with the Hicks/Pelczarski wedding. The $119 rate will apply for your entire stay. Check in is at 4 and check out is at 11; although we've found that if you call first, hotels can exercise some flexibility on times. The hotel asks that you book your rooms by March 22nd.

The Embassy Suites are very close to the Hilton, so they make an excellent alternative. They offer nice, affordable suites for multiple guests. Though the room rates are a little higher than the Hilton, they may prove more economical for some.

Right in the heart of Old Town, the Holiday Inn Select is in the thick of the shops and restaurants, but a fifteen minute walk to the Hilton and the Metro. It's quite nice, but a bit pricier than the others.

A less expensive hotel, this Holiday Inn is located out on an access road. It's only a five minute drive or cab ride to Old Town, but doesn't have quite the same great location as the previous hotels do. We've never actually been in this hotel, so can't speak to its quality. It's near the Eisenhower Ave. Metro station.

Another less expensive hotel, the Marriott Courtyard, is near the Holiday Inn just mentioned. It's also on an access road, near the Eisenhower Ave. Metro stop, about a five-minute drive from Old Town.
